About Me

Writing messy love stories for the Greek mythology girlies

Background
Lara Reed

Hi there!

I'm Lara Reed — indie author, bookworm, and Greek mythology obsessive since I devoured the entire Percy Jackson series in one week. I write star-crossed lovers, stubborn women whose lipstick matches the blood on their hands, and bitter-sweet endings I'm not even sorry about.

By day I work in the humanitarian sector with a poli-sci degree I somehow use. By night I'm based in Stockholm, writing CROWN OF SERPENTS and THE TENTH MUSE, and campaigning my (very allergic) partner to finally get a wiener dog called Schnitzel.

My Inspiration

📜

The Degree

A political science degree covering democracy, political apathy, and intersectional feminism. Ancient tyrants and modern power struggles aren't that different, so I put both in my books.

🏛️

The Obsession

Greek mythology, from the Iliad to the Oresteia. I will defend Clytemnestra until my dying breath and no, I will not be taking questions. Every myth is a story about messy, flawed people and I live for that.

🌈

The Chaos

Bisexual disaster energy that manifests in two ways: creating maximum chaos for my characters, and being too scared to talk to pretty women. So I write about them instead.

Quick Facts

Hestia, because she's the only unproblematic Olympian, and Aphrodite, because she's anything but.
Sapphic vampires, complex magic systems, and pages filled to the brim with silly banter (ideally in a found family setting)
Early bird life: every day from 6am to 8am, before anyone disturbs me, to get at least 1,000 words in. Yes, I drink a lot of matcha.
There is always more to see in Greece ... I really want to see the palace in Knossos
